12mm toughened glass is a high-strength, 12mm thick safety glass, roughly five times stronger than annealed glass. It is created by tempering float glass, creating compressive stress (>90 MPa) to resist impacts and breaking into small, safe fragments. It is commonly used for frameless doors, shower screens, partitions, and balustrades.
Key Characteristics & Content:
- Composition: Primarily silica sand, soda ash, and limestone, with only ~654 PPM impurities.
- Strength & Safety: It is Five times stronger than conventional glass. If broken, it shatters into small, blunt fragments, minimizing injury risks.
- Weight: Approximately
Applications:
- Structural: Frameless glass doors, partitions, and glass railings.
- Residential/Commercial: Shower enclosures, tabletop glass, storefronts, and canopy systems.
Manufacturing Note:
- 12mm toughened glass cannot be cut, drilled, or edge-worked after the tempering process; all modifications must be done beforehand.
